OUR PHILOSOPHY
TLC Music Therapy sessions are welcoming for all participants and we work hard to provide a supportive and non-judgmental space where participants are encouraged to express themselves creatively.
While we include a large repertoire of songs and activities at TLC Music Therapy, each session has an underlying structure & purpose designed to meet your goals and maximise safe participation & engagement. This structure supports a whole range of musical and non-musical strategies.
All participants are free to actively participate as much or as little as they like, and sessions are always participant-led. TLC Music Therapy supports participant’s social emotional & mental wellbeing by prioritising participants preferences and not forcing participation or rigid adherence to programs.
While we encourage lots of creativity and exploration in the sessions many participants are sensitive to new experiences. We like to allow at least 3-6 sessions for new participants to settle in and become familiar with the rhythm of the sessions.
Providing resources and support is an important focus at TLC Music Therapy. Participants may be supported with programs or resources which can be used at home or in the community. We also host a Facebook page filled with relevant blog articles, videos, songs, support info, parenting tips, child development research and local community events that may interest participants.
We believe that everyone should have access to music therapy services if they wish. We are keen advocates for the benefits of music therapy and we regularly help our participants with accessing NDIS funding and advocacy.
