NDIS sessions for teens and adults

Sessions with teens & adults utilise resource-oriented music therapy methods, which emphasises the development and stimulation of each participant's strengths and resources. Participants who attend TLC Music Therapy for individual or group sessions are supported within a collaborative partnership to be involved in all aspects of the planning, implementation and evaluation of services.

Music is a very engaging medium and can prove very effective in addressing many diverse goals to support a participant’s wellbeing. It’s also very fun and a great way to work collaboratively. TLC Music Therapy works closely with the participant and/or NDIS partner to assess, plan, implement and evaluate sessions for the individual.

TLC Music Therapy sessions are designed to address the participants disability or mental health NDIS goals which may include:

  • Developing expressive & creative skills through song-writing, singing, instrumental improvisation and music listening.

  • Developing fine & gross motor skills through instrument playing, creative movement and dancing.

  • Developing social skills such as turn-taking, sharing and eye-contact through structured musical interventions.

  • Enhancing emotional wellness through engagement in creative expression, confidence building and emotional regulation through structured musical interventions, instrument playing and supported opportunities to identify, label and release emotions.

  • Music skill building to develop practical music skills, creative expression, leisure activity and social connection.

  • Receptive methods such as music listening or art & music interventions to encourage emotional release, relaxation, introspection or anxiety reduction.

  • Explore ways in which music may be used socially or as a leisure activity to enhance participants community engagement and quality of life.
