Families who attend TLC Music for individual or group sessions are supported within a collaborative partnership and are involved in all aspects of the planning, implementation and evaluation of services. Services are designed to address the child’s individual needs, but also the needs of the family.

NDIS sessions for babies and children

Music is a very engaging medium and is effective in addressing many diverse goals. It’s also very fun and a great way to engage babies and children. Families will learn new songs, activities and ideas which they can implement at home if they wish. At TLC Music Therapy we acknowledge that young children are actively engaged and learn best when learning is part of their daily routine. Family-centered principles value collaboration between the parent and therapist, and encourage the active participation of the parent (Thompson, 2012).

TLC Music Therapy sessions provide music-based early childhood intervention to address a range of developmental, social or emotional needs. This may include:

  • Developing language skills through songs, singing, and listening activities.

  • Fine & gross motor skills through instrument playing, movement and dancing.

  • Developing social skills such as turn-taking, sharing and eye-contact through structured musical interventions.

  • Enhancing emotional wellness through engagement in creative expression, confidence building and emotional regulation through structured musical interventions, instrument playing and supported opportunities to identify, label and release emotions.

  • Music skill building to develop practical music skills, creative expression, leisure activity and social connection.

What to expect

TLC Music Therapy works closely with the family and/or NDIS partner to assess, plan, implement and evaluate music therapy sessions for the child.
